Ultrasonic Mist Maker Kits — What's Inside & How It Works
Curious what's actually inside an ultrasonic mist maker? Here's the full breakdown of the fogger itself — the part that turns water into cool, dry fog. Tap or click any labeled part (float, stainless transducer, ceramic discs, or power supply) to see what it does and find its replacement.
This diagram shows the mist maker unit on its own. To see how it fits into a complete humidifier with a fan and humidistat, visit the interactive Build Your Own DIY Humidifier diagram, or read the Mist Maker FAQ for full specs and setup.
Float · Transducer · Power Supply · Spare Discs
- Float / Buoy — holds the transducer at the perfect water depth for maximum fog.
- Stainless Steel Transducer — the stainless puck holding the piezo discs that turn water into fog.
- 20mm Ceramic Discs — non-stick atomizing discs; a spare set ships in every kit.
- Power Supply / Transformer — UL-listed transformer that steps 120V down for the transducer.
- Water Level Sensor — switches the discs on only when submerged, protecting them from dry running.
- Retaining Ring — locks each disc in its pocket; removes with the included disc key.
- Clear O-ring — seals the disc pocket so water can't reach the electronics.
- Contact Spring — carries the ultrasonic vibration from the transducer up to the disc.
- Disc Pocket — houses the disc, spring, o-ring and ring; one pocket per disc.
Every part shown here is included in our ultrasonic mist maker kits — each kit ships complete with the transducer, float, a free spare set of ceramic discs, and the power supply. Need a single replacement part? Browse DIY humidifier accessories & replacement parts.
